A rough plan is forming

Well, it has been too long since I wrote any posts.  I plead busy job, busy social life.  Now the job has slowed right down.  Social life is even busier but I can fit in a post now & then.

Lots has happened since we last wrote/read.  My Spanish class ended and I haven't done anything since, quickly losing what I gained.  Back to Duolingo.  It has been so long, they don't even bother to send me reminders anymore.

Terrorism in Europe.  Our plan to take advantage of the cheap air ticket prices to Paris due to the first attack may have been short sighted.  As you all know, the attacks in France have continued.  And as you also know, this will not dissuade me from going or doing whatever I was planning to do anyway, but it is a consideration.  Avoid huge crowds (if possible and if the huge crowd is doing something I don't want to do anyway). Stupid terrorists.

Here is a oldy-timey picture of a French Soldier
holding a kitten to make up for having to think
about how much the world can suck.

So, onward we plan.  Alisma sent me an email that she had had a 'breakthrough' in trip planning.  We met for dinner and here is what she has come up with.  Brilliant.

France to Spain to Portugal back to Spain and end in France.  A lovely misshapen, fast-paced circle.

Notice Oct 16 - Driving through N. Spain.  How awesome does that sound?!!  It is going to be a lot but we can adjust if need be.  We will have my new mini-computer so we can book as we go so that we can be flexible.  I am super stoked.  Now that we have a rough outline, we can fill in details about transportation and what each city has to offer to keep us entertained.

Did I already complain about Chris, lovely Chris who lives next door and always takes care of my cats without complaint or payment when I am away, and how she is going to also be on a rare vacation while I am in Europe.  For some reason when I stamped my tiny foot in displeasure, she didn't immediately cancel her plans.  On top of this, GingyPuss is getting old and dottery and got lost for 12 days a couple of months ago.  That was scary so she isn't allowed outside anymore when I am not home.  So, this left me needing a cat sitter for at least the two weeks that Chris is out of town.  While I was in Osoyoos with my friends, Paula, Dottie and Tanya, we met up with Rob.  Rob used to work with the ladies before he retired and moved to the Okanagan.  I offered him my house for the month (with cat responsibilities countered with HBO-on-demand) and he accepted.  Problem solved.  Plus, Rob is a very nice person who I have known for years so I can leave cat & home without worrying.

I don't have a picture of Rob so here is a picture of the top of GP's head
And last but not least.  I bought tickets for my next trip after Europe.  Costa Rica in February (for my birthday).  I will be completely broke from Europe but the tickets were so cheap - $430 return!  Next blog (10) already created.
