So, I haven't packed or hemmed my pants or figured out what shoes I am taking but I did make Alisma's birthday present and started making Christmas presents. Yes, priorities!
I am good at packing. I know exactly what I need. But like a marathon runner who wants to up her game so runs up a mountain or a baker who wants a challenge so bakes a quinoa souffle, I am going to pack for a month long European vacation while undergoing a major bathroom reno. Where are my travel toiletries? Unknown. I think they are under a buzz saw in my spare room. I found my saran wrap in the shed the other day so all bets are off.
Fortunately, even though Alisma is also getting ready to have a house guest while she is away and is also busy at work and life, she is getting s#!* done. She has booked rooms, hotels, trains, buses, cars, planes and even a boat tour. She hasn't told me what I have spent yet so that should be a surprise.
For that matter, Chuck hasn't told me what the bathroom is going to cost. Now that I think about it, the two projects are very similar. Someone else is asking me if I want awesome stuff, and I say yes without having any mental connection between having the thing (or experience) and paying for it. But ohhh, I am going to have such a good time/beautiful bathroom. I will be poor but with lovely purple walls and lovely Mediterranean memories to reflect upon while I soak in my new tub under my new window.
By the way, I didn't go for either of those purples in my last post. I picked Vintner by Behr. I have spent more time in the paint chip aisle than I have getting ready for this trip. But the paint is bought so no take-backs at this point.
Ok,back to the trip.
Rob is on his way and will be here next week. Today I bought extra kitty litter. Everyone in this house is getting a fresh bathroom. And I got enough cat food to last until Christmas (in case I decide to call in sick to work for a few extra months).
We leave in a week today. I was just on the phone with Alisma (booking something or other, I am seriously losing track) and we realized that in one week from right now we will be within an hour or two of landing in Paris.
FlightNetwork update. Our connection in Montreal has changed and we are now there for almost two hours. Maybe enough time to buy a new bag!
Alisma has created a spreadsheet of all of the confirmations and reservations we need to keep on hand, in chronological order. The are coded as T (travel), A (accommodation) and F (fun). And she has looked up long term weather forecasts for all of the days for all of the cities we will be in and categorized as hot, mild or cold. So we know what to wear.
I have definitely picked the correct travel companion for this trip. It may be expensive but it is like having my own personal travel agent. And really, it is only expensive because it is Europe. I think Alisma is saving us tons of Euros by doing all of this research and finding the best deals in each city (and between each city for that matter)
I am going to stop trying to tell you what the plan is, let's leave something for the blog. Plus, I honestly can't keep track. If Alisma gets sick of my disorganized self on day two and ditches me for a Type A traveling partner, I am not going to have any idea where to be when. But they better know how to drive a standard, that is my ace up my sleeve.
I am going to bed. I will pack this weekend. And hem my pants.
And now to finish, here is my bathroom, in progress.

In order: where my sink used to be. This looks better now. My spare room which at one point also had a tub in it. This looks worse now. And Chuck, standing in the 'tub'. He always look the same, super efficient.
